What is medical coding?
A Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is an individual of high professional integrity who has passed a coding certification examination sponsored by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). The examination consists of questions regarding the correct application of CPT and HCPCS procedure and supply codes and ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes used for billing professional medical services to insurance companies and Medicare. A CPC must have at least two years coding experience and maintain yearly CEU requirements (18 CEUs).

Sharon Jones became a certified coder in 2002 and has over 25 years of experience in the medical insurance industry. She joined LS Coding & Education LLC in 2006 as a co-instructor and auditor, became the Owner, CEO, and Program Director in 2019, and an AAPC Licensed Instructor in 2020.
Lynn Schoeler established LS Coding & Education LLC in Tucson Arizona in 2005 after teaching Medical Coding since 1999. She continues to serve as a Licensed Instructor and Program Consultant.
